Full Description

Wild wisdom for the lungs, the heart, and the spirit.

Osha Root (Ligusticum porteri), also known as Bear Root, is a powerful and sacred plant native to the high elevations of the Rocky Mountains. Long revered by Indigenous peoples for its protective, healing, and heart-opening qualities, Osha is traditionally used for respiratory health, immune support, and as a spiritual ally.

This tincture may help relieve body aches, cough, asthma, lung congestion, and symptoms of flu and cold. It’s often turned to as a frontline remedy for keeping the lungs clear and resilient. It also has a history of use for cardiovascular health and general stamina, especially during seasonal transitions or high-altitude travel.

Containing compounds believed to promote oxytocin release, Osha is sometimes brewed into a “love tea”—known to create feelings of warmth, comfort, and even euphoria in some. In energetic terms, Osha clears heaviness and brings strength to both breath and spirit.

Because this plant is increasingly at risk in the wild, we harvest and work with it respectfully and in small quantities, always with gratitude and care.

A potent ally on its own or when added to blends that support immune, emotional, or spiritual clarity, Osha brings the deep, grounded medicine of the mountains into your body and breath.

Dosage & Pairing Suggestions

Osha Root is strong mountain medicine—protective, warming, and deeply clearing. As with all our tinctures, begin with just a few drops. Wait 15 minutes to observe the effects. If it feels subtle, double the dose and repeat as needed, slowly increasing until the desired effect is felt. Some may feel its power right away, while others may need a full dropper or more to unlock its clearing and grounding properties.

Osha is often used for respiratory issues, immune support, body aches, and fatigue, but it also works on an energetic level—clearing heaviness, bringing breath to stuck places, and strengthening the connection between body and spirit.

For lucid dreaming and shamanic states, Osha pairs beautifully with Blue Lotus or Bobinsana, guiding the dreamer across inner thresholds and deepening access to symbolic or ancestral wisdom.

To support the immune system or assist during colds and flus, blend with our Immune Tincture or with herbs like Ginger, Licorice, and Elderberry for a well-rounded defense.

For emotional clearing or rituals of grief and release, Osha works well with Valerian or St. John’s Wort, supporting both the breath and the heart through heavy passages.

This is a plant of ceremony and purpose. Let Osha guide you when you need to clear, strengthen, or awaken the deeper layers of your being.
